Food Network: Food Detectives with Ted Allen

Fridge It was shown on the episode on Food Network that talks about “Does baking soda do anything for keeping you refrigerator smelling clean” .  It is in the episode called The 5- Second Rule and it is the show section called:” Is the baking soda in my fridge doing anything?  Ted Allen and his culinary sleuths set out to prove the answers to these questions, once and for all! ”

Yes  it was Fridge It that they used in the show and it did confirm for easy to use activated charcoal,.  The products he showed was Fridge It, since you can see the purple cube that he is holding up at the end of the segment.  it is a patented design, so you know it is the Fridge It brand.

 In his TV test  he asked if the activated charcoal does work better than baking soda .  He also said if you don’t want to use a tray full of charcoal use this.  Which was the Fridge It cube he held up and did not say it by name,  just showed it.

Why activated carbon works to rid odors.

My girlfriend talks about her dog that smells odor, my other friend talks about luggage odor.  The neighbors around seem to be talking more and more about smells and  odor. The best way to get rid of fish odor on your to do list?

There is something about Fish odor and if cooked or raw how do you get the fish smells out of your house? Fish odor comes in four different types of odor.  The first is the odor from fresh fish that you bought or have caught that yous store in your refrigerator. The second type of odor is when you fillet the fish and the odor from the cutting board or counter tops.  The third odor is when you have cooked the fish and your house smells like fish for days. The last is you have fish tank odor from an aquarium smell and that causes odor problems.

When you buy fish and store in it your refrigerator, it will have a strong smell. The fresher the fish the smell is less, the older the fish the more odor.  The fish juice is the major odor issue. even with very fresh fish. The older the fish, the more it will smell. 

The best way to get rid of fish odor is by using an activated charcoal odor absorber.   When you have fish in the refrigerator for more than 24 hours, double or triple up on the odor absorbers for the length of time the fish is in the refrigerator.
